A peridot birthday cake

I was asked to do a birthday cake and I really enjoyed designing this one. There is so much you can do on cakes now the world is your oyster, however this means people don't often know what you can get. So after we flicked through my Squires Kitchen magazine for inspiration I sketched out the design over coffee. Clare also mentioned that the birthday girl's birth stone was peridot and that it would be a nice touch to include. Below are the pictures of a chocolate 11" square base with a 5" square vanilla top tier, with a peridot green satin ribbon. The flowers were large roses with bright pink dust work and blossoms which had light pink glittery dust on them. Unfortunately you can't see the pink very well in these photos but the glitter definitely stands out.
