Hot cakes

 Today has been very hot but I have been very productive. Today I have made a 90th birthday cake for a friend's granddad. I had prepared the mini carnations in advance, and made and decorated the cake today. It all turned out well, the sugar didn't quite cope with the heat, but I'm pleased with how the design turned out.

From board to cake

These are my new designs taken from my ideas board. They are for church tomorrow, just for munching rather than a special reason. Now its great to have my own designs to provide people with if they need beautiful cupcakes for a special occasion.

I was going to make these for Luke's work, but as the week totally escaped me and so I've made them in time for church tomorrow! So I think I will be making another batch for Luke's work as promised very soon!

Under the weather

Aside from the fact that the weather has been rubbish, totally wet and miserable, to good with bright sunshine that has now sunburnt my face (except for a nice little void where my fringe was), I am currently very under the weather. I am quite poorly which has delayed me in drawing up my vintage designs and making them for Luke's work which is a shame. But I would rather wait till I was better again rather than bake any germs into lovely cakes! So in the mean time I just about have the energy to bring together a new pinterest board related to a new project-my friends birthday cake. She is going to be getting a fabulous, pink and brown scheme, chocolate and blossom cake plus cake pops. This picture isn't one of my own creations but one of my recent pins. Vintage+Cake=Cupcake designs

This was the product of last night's
late night mood boarding. It ended up being so late because I was not keeping track of how many coffees I was having when. I added all sorts of things I had around the place already-the heart at the top were the table placements at my friend's wedding. I had several vintage style earrings of my own to add, the bows and sequins I had in a handy sewing stuff box, and it all came together really well. It has really given me loads of ideas for designs that I will be making for Luke's work very soon.

This was my delivery this morning and I'm very glad to see them! I have tried several different flower pastes/gums and this is my personal favourite

Bank holiday weekend...

Hello everyone,
Did you have a good bank holiday weekend? Here in Malvern it was actually nearly sunny and warm and I could see the hill for the first time in a week (it's been covered in cloud all week) so that was good to see its still there and pretty!
In the world of Becca Knight Cakes it was packed with friends, baking and having some interesting ideas. We had two lots of friends come visit us which was lovely, to see some friends after their recent wedding and other friends who brought our 10month old nephew with them. In the world of baking I had the pleasure of delivering  some baby shower cupcakes, and the designs looked brilliant together.

There are some more pictures to follow once they were set up on their party table that my friend took with her camera and she'll be getting to me soon!

I also had several ideas spinning around my head from this weekend. One is inspired by going to the Malvern May Day craft and art market this weekend and it inspired me to really go for having my own stand at another craft market soon. My other idea is to bake some interesting flavoured cupcakes, make them look beautiful, take some lovely photos of them to share with people. I was worrying who could have the cupcakes afterwards and see that they go to a good home, but I'm sure my husband can take them into work and they'd be eaten in no time! So look out Luke's work-cakes are coming.

Baby cakes

These are just a sneak preview at the cupcakes for the weekend. The baby shower is going for a pink and yellow theme and I've really enjoyed designing the cupcakes. Look out for super girly cupcakes with all the classic signs of a beautiful baby girl on the way!

Baby shower request

I have had a request for some cupcakes for a baby shower at the weekend. I'm looking forward to meeting my friend tomorrow to discuss the cupcakes! I am going to really enjoy meeting her for her lunch and brain storming the baby shower theme. Is it a girl, is it a boy? Do they want to go for a fun design or do something based on colours or flavours? This is an excellent example of some fun baby shower cupcakes I have recently pinned. They are an excellent source of design inspiration for tomorrow, and I'm sure we'll brainstorm cupcakes and have a general chinwag!
